Police has arrested another suspect in connection with the murder of Immigration Officer Assistant Inspector Stephen King Amoah, adding a fresh twist to the ongoing investigation.
The suspect, identified as Thomas Zigah, also known as Nii Jaase, was arraigned before the Adabraka District Court on Friday, August 22, 2025.
His arrest comes weeks after the prime suspect, Bright Aweh, was remanded over his alleged involvement in the crime.
In court, Zigah’s lawyer argued that his client’s health had worsened while in custody at the Railway Police Station and pleaded for him to be treated at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital instead of the Police Hospital.
Prosecutors opposed the request, explaining that Zigah had already been treated and discharged twice at the Police Hospital. The court agreed with the prosecution, ruling that any change of hospital would require a formal application.
A request for a one-week adjournment to allow for a medical report was also rejected, with the prosecution insisting that investigations had extended beyond Accra and could not be completed within the timeframe. The case was adjourned to September 4, 2025.
Meanwhile, prime suspect Bright Awehremains in custody after forensic evidence—including blood stains, a burnt carpet, and a blood-soaked pestle—was uncovered at his residence. He has been formally charged with murder.
Amoah, 38, was reported missing on July 3, 2025. His charred body was discovered on July 9 at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya, sparking a nationwide outcry and an intensive manhunt.
Police say investigations are ongoing, with efforts to establish Zigah’s role and identify other possible accomplices.
