Police caution faith-based organization, individuals against prophecies likely to cause fear, panic

The Ghana Police Service has called on faith-based organizations and individuals against misinformation and disinformation

“The Ghana Police Service would like to take this opportunity to caution the public, especially faith-based organizations and individuals, against the publication of misinformation and disinformation, including prophecies likely to cause fear and panic or endanger lives”, the police service disclosed in a statement.

The police administration also assures the public of an adequate security for the 31st December and beyond.

POLICE ASSURE THE PUBLIC OF ADEQUATE SECURITY FOR 31ST DECEMBER 2024 AND BEYOND

1. The Ghana Police Service wishes to commend Ghanaians for their understanding, cooperation and support throughout the year that has significantly contributed to the maintenance of peace, security, law and order in our beloved country.
2. As we approach the new year, the Ghana Police Service wishes to once again assure the general public that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure peace, security, law and order from now through to 2025.
3. As part of the measures, residential and highway patrols have been intensified to enhance public safety and protect lives and property.
4. Traffic Police officers have been deployed at major intersections and public roads to ensure free vehicular movement and strict compliance with traffic regulations, particularly in areas where social, entertainment and religious activities will attract huge numbers of people during the cross-over tonight.
5. Security will also be provided at faith-based events and social gatherings nationwide to ensure the safety of all and maintain a peaceful atmosphere during these occasions.
6. Additionally, the Police will continue safeguarding vital infrastructure across the country to prevent any disruptions or security breaches.
7. The Ghana Police Service would like to take this opportunity to caution the public, especially faith-based organizations and individuals, against the publication of misinformation and disinformation, including prophecies likely to cause fear and panic or endanger lives.
