The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, has issued a bold ultimatum ahead of the Akwatia by-election scheduled for September 2, 2025.
He has vowed to step down from Parliament if the NPP fails to recapture the seat.
Speaking to GHOne TV during the one-week commemoration of the late Akwatia MP, Ernest Kumi, Mr. Baafi accused the NDC of failing to honour any of its 2024 campaign promises.
He expressed confidence of the NPP retaining the seat saying, “If the NPP loses this Akwatia by-election, I will resign as MP. Mark my words!” Okyere Baafi declared.
The by-election was triggered by the sudden passing of Ernest Kumi, who represented the constituency until his death.
The contest is expected to be hotly contested, with the NDC fielding Bernard Bediako and the NPP presenting Solomon Kwame Asumadu.
Both parties are optimistic of securing victory in the upcoming polls.
