In a community where there are no good roads, it leads to misfortunes and loss of lives. In our day-to-day activities, people usually drive on roads or use transport cars which does otherwise to get to their destination.
Tema Metropolis is known to have a lot of companies established and also the fishing harbour where products and goods are shipped and received. The place is a busy area due to the numerous companies situated there and often experience traffic jams.
Also, the majority of the roads in Tema have been well constructed and makes driving easy due to the way one can drive without encountering potholes. In some areas, there are still roads that haven’t been constructed but then people still use those roads even though it’s uncomfortable to drive on.
Moreover, residents are happy about the newly constructed motorway roundabout which was opened on Saturday 16th May 2020. It includes drainage structures, a tunnel and pedestrian bridges. It has road signs with directions cited to show where an individual is heading to.
“Driving in Tema is a very good feeling because I don’t have to dough potholes in order to take people to wherever they’re going. I sometimes drive on roads which haven’t been constructed and I think something should be done about it.” Papa Kwesi a.k.a (Chairmo) a driver at the taxi station stated.
Old soldier, the head of the drivers’ association says “I’m happy about the development of roads and most importantly the Tema motorway roundabout which was completed last year. We hardly hear about the death rate of road accidents or even encounter it here in Tema.”
However, few drivers spoke about the bad roads but all their views were based on the fact that the roads are well constructed which prevent accidents from occurring. Some students also shared their thought on how careful they are when crossing the roads even though the roads are good.
