Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has issued a formal cease and desist letter to NPP activist, Mr. P.K. Sarpong, also known as “Whispers,” over what he describes as a defamatory Facebook post.
The letter, issued through his legal representatives Korsah & Ackah @ Law on Tuesday, accuses Mr. Sarpong of making a “categorically false” claim that the MP received a Lexus vehicle as a gift in violation of a directive by President John Dramani Mahama to his ministers.
According to the letter, the publication is not only untrue but was made with the intention of damaging the Minister’s reputation.
“You are fully aware that your publication is devoid of truth. Nonetheless, you have proceeded to make this misinformation public, with the apparent intention of tarnishing the hard-earned reputation of our client,” the statement read.
The legal team is demanding that Mr. Sarpong:
Immediately remove the alleged false post from his Facebook wall; Issue a public retraction of the statement to the same audience; Offer an unqualified apology to the minister.
The letter gives a seven-day deadline, up to May 27, 2025, for compliance, warning that failure to meet the demands will lead to legal proceedings, including a potential defamation suit.
As of the time of this report, there has been no public response from Mr. Sarpong.
