The Founder for civil society organization Send Ghana and Chief Executive of Officer (CEO) for Send West Africa, Siapha Kamara has tagged Ghana’s political leadership as a failure.
According to the founder of Send Ghana, his organization has succeeded in attending to the needs of the poor for the past 25 years by prioritizing quality leadership.
Speaking to Starr News at the 25th anniversary lecture of Send Ghana, Mr. Kamara argued the country’s problems are as a result of greedy and selfish politicians.
He for instance questioned why his organization embarks on a project half the cost the government spends on similar projects in the country.
“What we have in Ghana we don’t have leaders who are driven by the needs of the ordinary Ghanaian. They are first of foremost driven by parochial interest, driven by interest of their families and friends.
“What we do in SEND is to put the interest of the masses, of the poor and people we work with. Whether they are with HIV/AIDS, whether they are persons with disabilities. It is those people’s interests that determine and drive our leadership and mission. The problem we have in Ghana is a question of leadership,” he added.
Former dean of the local government institute and a member of the Send Ghana team Dr. Offei Aboagye who delivered the lecture stated transparency in management of funds will assist CSOs continue to receive funding from donor agencies even in the midst of global economic downturn.
