Travel enthusiast, Wanderlust Ghana, has commended Senegal for their good roads which they claim has no potholes as compared to Ghana.
In an interview on Starr Chat with Bola Ray, on September 12, 2024, Wanderlust highlighted Senegal’s roads as an example of superb infrastructure, praising the country. “Senegal has awesome roads. From border to border, not one pothole,” they emphasized, pointing out the efficiency and safety provided by Senegal’s highways, which are well-maintained and supported by frequent toll booths. “You will pay, but you will enjoy the road,” they noted.
Wanderlust criticised Ghana’s road network in comparison to other African countries, notably Francophone ones. “We have bad roads. We have poorly managed drivers,” Wanderlust stated.
They claim that in addition to being of poor quality, Ghana’s roads cause needless delays for motorists. Wanderlust drew a comparison between Francophone neighbouring Africa and those countries, emphasising the latter’s more attentive drivers, particularly on single carriageways.”If a truck is in front of you, it will veer off the road and slow down so you can pass,” they explained, adding that trucks in Francophone Africa also avoid using the speed lane on dual carriageways, unlike in Ghana.
Wanderlust reports that travel within Ghana is much slower than in other African countries. “Outside Ghana, we are able to do a thousand kilometres in ten hours. We can’t do that in Ghana,” they lamented.
