President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has received the credentials of seven new envoys who have been posted to Ghana by their respective countries.

The seven envoys took turns to present their letters of credence to the President at the Ceremonial Room in the Jubilee House.

The envoys include, Aboubacar Sadikh Barry, Senegal Ambassador to Ghana; Anne Sphie Avé, Ambassador of France to Ghana; Mohammed Ahmad All Homaid, Ambassador of Qatar to Ghana; Shani Cooper, Israeli Ambassador to Ghana; Meyer Kheir, Ambassador of Lebanon to Ghana, Frances Virginia Anderson, High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to Ghana and Diana Acconcia, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Ghana.

The Israeli Ambassador, Shani Cooper, in her address said, “Friendship and ties between Ghana and the state of Israel are precious. Since the reopening of a resident embassy in Ghana, we have witnessed tens of official visits and hundreds of business tours to Israel which have been led by the Ghana Israel Business Chamber.”

She added that Israel will seek for the continuation of this trend and sees this as a huge potential to widen.

Ambassador Al Homaid in his address said the Emir of the state of Qatar, His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thank is “looking forward to the President’s next visit to Qatar to further strengthen the relations between Ghana and Qatar”.

The French Ambassador, Ann Sphie Avé observed that both President Macron and President Akufo Addo share the conviction that Ghana and French relations are crucial.

“President Macron was the first French President to visit Ghana last November and France will be honoured to welcome your presidential visit in 2019,” Ambassador Sphie Avé said.

Ambassador Barry of Senegal said his country and Ghana have signed as far back as 2014, an agreement to establish a Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC) which is yet to be met. He assured that during his time in office, he will ensure that the PJCC meets to explore avenues for further cooperation.

Diana Acconcia, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Ghana in her address said no sustainable and sustained development is possible without building up education and skills that multiply the opportunities for young people to access quality jobs.

She emphasized that the EU is looking forward to working with Ghana to strengthen the educational drive of government and all multilateral institutions, in this complex world where no country can walk alone. She expressed hope and confidence that during her tour of duty, political and economic relations between Ghana and the EU deepened.

President Akufo Addo congratulated all seven envoys and reiterated his administration’s resolve to work closely with Israel, Sierra Leone, France, the state of Qatar, Senegal and Lebanon, to deepen further trade relations and to build strong economic ties between Ghana and the six countries as well as the EU. He assured them of his government’s readiness to assist them to have a successful duty tour in Ghana.
