The vacation High Court in Accra has adjourned the case in which former Board Chairman of Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, and Solomon Asamoah are standing trial for alleged misappropriation of $2 million Sky train funds.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi and former Chief Executive Officer of GIIF, Solomon Asamoah, have been charged with six counts and have pleaded not guilty, with the trial set to start.
On Thursday, August 28, before a vacation court presided over by Justice Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie, the case was adjourned to October 13, when the 2025/26 legal year begins.
The hearing, which was conducted virtually, saw the first accused person, Solomon Asamoah, present online, while Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was absent.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi and former Chief Executive Officer of GIIF, Solomon Asamoah, have pleaded not guilty to six charges, including willfully causing financial losses to the tune of $2 million in the Sky train project.
The Office of the Attorney General is expected to parade eight witnesses to testify in the case. The two former officials are facing a combined six charges, including willfully causing financial loss to the Republic.
