The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has restated government’s dedication to grassroots sports development following his participation in the maiden edition of the Yingor Cup 2025 held in Dabala, South Tongu District, over the weekend of September 13–14, 2025.
The two-day football tournament brought together local teams and fans in a thrilling showcase of community spirit and budding talent. The competition climaxed in a dramatic final as Yingor FC defeated Cule FC 8–7 on penalties to emerge champions of the historic first edition.
The grand finale drew high-profile guests including Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, MP for South Tongu, and Mr. Stan Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations).
In his address, Hon. Adams emphasised that grassroots football remains central to the Ministry’s broader sports reset agenda, describing community competitions as vital to Ghana’s national talent pipeline. He pledged the Ministry’s continued support through equipment, financial assistance, and technical expertise.
“Grassroots football is the heartbeat of our national sports ecosystem. By supporting community tournaments like the Yingor Cup, we are investing in the future of Ghanaian sports,” he said.

The Minister later presented the trophy to Yingor FC, cementing the Ministry’s commitment to recognising and uplifting young athletes and clubs across the country.
