Standard Chartered Wednesday, October 3 inaugurated a new head office building on Independence Avenue in Accra, Ghana

The investment demonstrated the Bank’s long-term commitment to the country, its clients and the communities that it operates in. It is also a strong endorsement of our brand promise Here for good and specifically highlights our pledge and belief in the future growth of Ghana.

The new state of the art premises reflects the expansion of the business in Africa while meeting the occupancy needs of the Bank. The building is an epitome of modem architecture and an embodiment of global and local environmental standards.

It is constructed to the Standard Chartered Bank Group’s specifications in terms of quality, functionality and resilience. The building meets Ghana’s approved green budding standards and achieves the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification especially in energy savings and water efficiency.

The head office has a state-of-the-art trading floor and the transformative impact of technology on the modem workplace is visible. Staff have a variety of workplaces to support different types of work activities and styles. These range from collaboration spaces, team desks to more private focus desks which staff can select for their most appropriate needs during the day providing the flexibility to balance their professional and personal lives.

President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at the inauguration of the building said, “as we inaugurate this new Head Office building, I believe it is the start of a new exciting chapter of growth and innovation for Standard Chartered Bank. I congratulate Board Chair, Dr Emmanuel Oteng Kumah, Members of the Board, Chief Executive Officer,  Mrs Manse Nettey and the management and staff for bringing Standard Chartered to this day. I wish them more success in the future.”

Bill Winters, Group CEO, Standard Chartered Plc said, “Our investment in Ghana is another important strategic step to enable access to a pool of highly skilled talent who can support our ambitions to be an employer of choice. Ghana is a strategically important market for us and we are committed to building a sustainable business, attracting the best talent and expertise to support our clients’ business growth. The new building is a testament of our brand promise, Here for good and shows our enduring support for the community and our commitment to Ghana.”

On her part, the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited, Mrs Nettey said, “This building is a symbol of innovation, efficiency and demonstrates our commitment to quality and sustainability. Not only does the building contribute to Accra’s skyline but incorporates an environmentally sustainable design to reduce our impact on the environment and protect our planet for the benefit of our communities.”

The Bank has been in Ghana for over 120 years drawing its history from the Bank of British West Africa which was established in 1896. It has been at the forefront of banking and economic evolution of Ghana and continues to provide best in class banking solutions.
