Chief Executive Officer of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), Dr. Shiraz Saajida, has announced that preparations are underway for the rollout of the new Students Loan Plus initiative at the start of the 2025/2026 academic year.
Speaking at the official launch of the No Fees Stress policy in Koforidua on Friday, July 4, Dr. Shiraz explained that the new financing model is part of a broader government strategy to improve access to tertiary education and provide comprehensive financial support to continuing students.
“We are also preparing to roll out the Students Loan Plus initiative this year at the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year,” she stated.
According to her, the initiative will ensure that barriers which have long hindered access to equal educational opportunities are systematically removed. The Students Loan Plus is expected to offer enhanced loan packages, simplified access, and timely disbursement to better reflect the real cost of tertiary education.

The initiative forms part of the No Fees Stress policy launched by President John Dramani Mahama to remove financial obstacles to tertiary education and guarantee equal access, especially for first-year students and students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
