Black Stars forward, Brandon Thomas-Asante’s Coventry City have secured their place in the English Premier League following a tense 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers on Friday night, thanks to a crucial late goal from Bobby Thomas.
Ghana’s forward, Thomas-Asante has already scored 12 goals and given 4 assists this season to help his club secure qualification.
The side managed by Frank Lampard appeared set for another setback when Blackburn; struggling near the bottom, took an unexpected lead midway through the second half, raising fears of another postponed celebration similar to their result against Sheffield Wednesday the previous weekend.
However, defender Bobby Thomas stepped up when it mattered most, heading in an 85th-minute equaliser from a set-piece. The goal sparked jubilant scenes among the 7,000-plus Coventry supporters at Ewood Park.

Coventry’s promotion has felt inevitable for weeks, with the team sitting comfortably at the top of the Championship and building a solid gap over competitors.
After missing the chance to confirm promotion earlier, they have now officially sealed their return to the top flight. The result ensures that Millwall, currently in third, can no longer close the gap.

Attention now turns to the race for the final promotion spot, with Millwall, Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough, and Southampton all battling for a place in the Premier League.
Thomas-Asante, who had been injured in the last few weeks, will now be looking to get back into Lampard’s starting lineup and get more game time as Ghana prepares for their world campaign with new coach, Carlos Quieroz.
