The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals in connection with a violent incident that occurred at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono, Accra, on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
The suspects — identified as Abubakar Mohammed (28), Eric Asare (23), and Felix Darko (48) — were apprehended by the Sakumono District Police Command after allegedly storming a construction site belonging to an executive member of the Golf Club and opening fire.
According to a police statement dated Sunday, October 19, the suspects falsely presented themselves as National Security operatives during the attack.
They reportedly discharged firearms and caused extensive damage to sections of the property before being subdued.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects, who falsely claimed to be National Security operatives, stormed a construction site belonging to one of the executives of the Celebrity Golf Club, and unlawfully discharged firearms, causing damage to parts of the property,” the statement said.
Investigators believe the incident is tied to an ongoing land dispute within the Nungua Traditional Council, which has sparked several tensions in recent months.
The police have confirmed that all three suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned individuals and groups against taking the law into their own hands, particularly in matters involving land conflicts.
“The Command cautions all individuals and groups to desist from lawlessness, particularly in matters relating to land disputes,” the release added, warning that anyone found culpable will “face the full rigours of the law.”
The police have also assured the public of their commitment to maintaining peace and order in the area while investigations continue.
