President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to usher in a new era for Ghana, promising to reset the country from its current crisis.
In his inauguration speech on January 7, 2025, Mahama acknowledged the hardships faced by Ghanaians due to poor governance and economic mismanagement by the previous administration.
Mahama emphasised that his government will bring a fresh approach to governance and economic management, prioritizing the needs of the Ghanaian people.
He noted that despite Ghana’s thriving democracy, many citizens feel disconnected from the benefits of democratic governance and have expressed their dissatisfaction through the ballot box.
The President identified the severe economic crisis and hardship faced by Ghanaians as a major challenge, but expressed hope for a brighter future.
He reiterated his commitment to making a difference in economic management and governance, stating, “Today should mark the beginning of a new opportunity… We shall reset our dear nation Ghana.”
Mahama said, “While Ghanaians take great pride in out-thriving democracy, they are deeply dissatisfied of the quality of governance over the years and they have openly voiced that dissatisfaction through the decisive actions that they undertake at the elections. Any honest introspection and reflection on the pulse of our nation will revealed that many within our population do not feel that they benefitted from or partaken in this democratic dividends, where people were affected by severe economic crisis and hardship and in the last few years, we have moved from crisis to crisis. But there is hope. Today should mark the beginning of a new opportunity, an opportunity for us to make a difference in our economy management and governance. We shall reset our dear nation Ghana.”
