Ghanaian musician, Tony Dath, has criticised the conduct of some event organizers, accusing them of exploiting upcoming artistes for promotions but sidelining them when it is time to perform.
In an interview with Clara Frimpong on Empire 102.7 FM’s Drive Entertainment, the young artiste lamented that organizers often rely on emerging talents to create buzz ahead of shows, yet fail to acknowledge or properly support them on the event day.
Citing his own experiences, Tony Dath explained:
“Some event organizers use us to promote their programs, but when the event comes on, they either don’t give us the chance to perform or they frustrate us. They expect us to share flyers, pay bloggers, and even fund our own logistics, though we don’t have the backing of record labels. Sometimes we get to the venue with our DJs and teams, only to be told that only the artiste can enter, unless you pay for the rest.”
He recalled a specific incident at the Ashanti Music Festival, where delays from organizers left him and other upcoming artistes unable to perform.
“At least, the organizers should provide us with transportation or some form of support because we help to push the event before the big names come on,” he argued.

Tony Dath further noted that some international promoters treat rising talents better, contrasting them with local organizers who, according to him, often fail to fulfill their promises.
His concerns add to the ongoing debate about how the Ghanaian music industry handles emerging acts and the need for fairer opportunities to help nurture new talent.
