Traditional leaders across the country have received their first-quarter allowances for 2025, with the government indicating that second-quarter disbursements will be made in due course.
This was revealed by the Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development responsible for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, during the official launch of the 2025 Ghana Chieftaincy Awards in Accra on Thursday, July 17.
The Ghana Chieftaincy Awards aim to recognize and celebrate traditional rulers who demonstrate excellence in leadership, community development, and cultural preservation.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister underscored the vital role traditional leaders play in shaping the nation’s identity, promoting peace, and fostering development at the grassroots level.
She said, “I would say that, as a ministry and through the leadership of the President, the government has ensured that the first-quarter allowances for traditional leaders have been duly disbursed.”
She added that the government, under the leadership of the President, remains committed to supporting traditional institutions and has already ensured the timely release of first-quarter stipends.
