The Upper West Regional Command of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has seized two trucks transporting suspected illegal consignments at Kaleo in the Nadowli District of the Upper West Region.
The operation, carried out followed intelligence indicating that the vehicles were en route to Burkina Faso with unauthorized cargo. Officers intercepted the trucks, with registration numbers GS 5699-18 and GC 1871-11, and conducted a search.
NACOC noted that the inspection uncovered 58 cartons of foreign cigarettes, 182 cartons of unapproved pharmaceutical products, and 40 drums of sodium cyanide.

Authorities said the items were being transported without the required documentation or regulatory approval.
The drivers and their assistants have been handed over to the Upper West Regional Police Command to assist with further investigations and possible prosecution.

NACOC says it remains committed to clamping down on the illicit movement of controlled and unapproved substances across Ghana’s borders.
