Vice President, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, has called responsible political leadership that translate in meaningful livelihoods, calling on political parties across Africa to become platforms that facilitate diverse forms of leadership and development.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2025 African Political Parties Summit, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang decried the persistent culture of political vendetta that often mars democratic processes on the continent and emphasized the urgent need for a paradigm shift towards inclusive, constructive, and visionary politics.
The African Political Parties Initiative is platform that supports political parties to cultivate deep-seated ethos and insights towards long-term national planning, evidence-based policy development, and structured engagement with the private sector, academia, civil society, and citizens.
At the opening ceremony, Chair of the Steering Committee of the African Political Parties Initiative who doubles as General Secretary of the NDC, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, called on political parties across Africa to become platforms that facilitate diverse forms of leadership and development.

Delivering the keynote address, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang drew a nexus between political leadership and the wellbeing of citizens calling on political leadership to focus on inclusive economic transformation rather than electoral fortunes.

The summit, Organized in partnership with the Government of Ghana, convened Heads of State, leaders of political parties, senior government officials, and institutional partners under the theme: “From Politics to Prosperity: Strengthening Inter-Party Collaboration for Africa’s Development and Economic Transformation.”
