The presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) for the 2024 presidential election, Nana Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong Kumankumah has urged President-elect John Mahama to govern in a way that transcends partisan politics.
Following Mahama’s victory in the December 7th election, with over six million votes (56.55%)—pending results from nine constituencies—Ms. Kumankumah called on him to address the nation’s long-standing challenges, particularly those affecting young people.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lily Mohammed, Madam Frimponmaa expressed her hope that Mahama would prioritize the needs of all Ghanaians, irrespective of political affiliation.
“I don’t see the solution for the youth of this nation; we have tried these two parties; I didn’t see anything. I’m just hoping again that, with the opportunity that has happened to the NDC today, that our president, John Mahama, will now rise up and see beyond the NDC and realize that Ghana is here; we have people who have solutions and be able to stretch his arms and have the political will to do the things that he said on that day, with his speech, that could bring dignity to the people of this nation,” she explained.
She expressed confidence in the CPP’s policy proposals as the best for Ghana.
“I always tell people that some of us, especially the CPP people you see today, Ivor Green Street, let me name them have a choice to make; we can pick any of the two parties. If I’m convinced that any party has the best policies, I’ve been there, and that suddens me the most, not because the party is my father’s party that they fought and died for is able to pick it up. But because the youth of this nation I don’t see the solution for them,” she stated.
