Vote for Bawumia, he’s the best candidate in the race – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians to rally behind his vice-president and flag bearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as he remains the best candidate on the ballot in the upcoming election.

In his address at a mega rally to climax the party’s presidential campaign at Legon, the president said his former running mate’s plans and vision for Ghana to harness the benefits of the 4th Industrial Revolution in the digital age made him stand tall amongst the individuals seeking the nation’s highest office.

“This election is about the future development of our country. We need someone to continue with the progress we have started. Someone who understands the strategies of the 21st century,” he said in his pitch to rally attendees.

President Akufo-Addo used his speech to tout Dr. Bawumia’s qualities as a capable successor after him, telling his audience he was best placed to attest to what the NPP presidential candidate could do if given the nod by the electorate on December 7.

The president said Dr. Bawumia was “an honest man” with “unimpeachable integrity” touting him as “the best candidate in the political race”. He repeated his campaign message that his veep was ready to be the 6th president of the Fourth Republic.

President Akufo-Addo, who could not resist a dig at his predecessor and Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, said the former leader’s experience was one of failure.

“If your experience is experience of failure. Of what use is it to Ghana?” he asked sarcastically.

He ridiculed Mr. Mahama again on his 24-economy promise, asking how he intended to see it through when “he could not keep the lights on for 12 hours”.

The incumbent president used the occasion to encourage party faithful to turn out for the NPP parliamentary candidates across the country, noting that it was the only way the country could rid itself of a “disturbing” Speaker of Parliament, a veiled dig at Mr. Alban Bagbin’s leadership in the legislature.
