Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has reiterated the government’s commitment to improving conditions at the senior high school level, ahead of the next intake of first-year students later this year.
Speaking to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates at Tamale Secondary School in the Northern Region during a monitoring tour on Monday, Dr. Apaak encouraged the students to prepare themselves for the next stage of their academic journey.
“President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Education have asked me to convey to you that even as you prepare to complete your BECE on Wednesday, we are working very hard to improve conditions at the secondary school level. So by the time you take your places in secondary or TVET schools, things will be better,” the Deputy Minister assured.

Dr. Apaak expressed confidence that candidates will experience improved conditions in areas such as accommodation, furniture, and feeding when they progress to senior high school.
He urged the students to believe in themselves, describing self-confidence as the surest way to succeed in their exams.
This year’s BECE began on Wednesday, 11th June, and is scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, 18th June 2025. In a departure from previous years, the timetable has been spread across two weeks.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service has announced an extension of the deadline for the school selection process for candidates.
