Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Works and Housing says the governing New Patriotic Party NPP has vowed to focus heavily on jobs to bring about economic expansion, stability, and job creation.
Speaking on State of Affairs on GHOne TV with Lantam Papanko after the NPP’s manifesto launch, the Minister disclosed how the next NPP government will not deviate from the needs of Ghanaians.
“The number one issue on the hearts and minds of people is the economy and jobs. So, what we want to do is to focus heavily on the economy and jobs and to do so by heavily paying attention to the interests of the private sector.”
Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that the private sector is the engine that will drive the economy and that the government’s role is to create an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.
“If you want to fix the economy, you want to create more jobs. It’s not essentially the public sector or government side that will do it. Or the government side would only be a chassis on which the economy runs. But the engine that will run this economy is a private sector engine.”
To achieve this, the government is committed to implementing bold and radical solutions that depart from the gradualist approach of the past.
“You need to get the private sector into the mechanics. Right. That will move us on to the next level. And you need to do so with some very bold radical solutions that depart from the gradualist approach that we’ve been going through in the times past,” Hon Oppong Nkrumah stated.
