In a remarkable gesture of compassion and community spirit, Western Region’s Council of State representative, Maxwell Boakye, has come to the aid of a critically ill toddler in the Ahanta West Municipality.
One-and-a-half-year-old Jayla Queen Fynn, diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, is set to undergo urgent surgery at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital — a procedure made possible by Mr. Boakye’s personal donation of GH₵100,000.
The intervention has been hailed as a life-saving move, sparing Jayla’s family from the overwhelming financial burden of securing treatment for her heart condition.
The child has a hole in her heart that requires immediate repair to prevent further complications.
To further support Jayla and her parents through the recovery process, Mr. Boakye, affectionately known as Palasco, also presented an additional GH₵10,000. This supplementary amount is intended to cover transportation, accommodation, and other upkeep needs before and after the surgery in Accra.
The donation was officially handed over in a brief ceremony attended by Jayla’s family and the Municipal Chief Executive of Ahanta West, Ing. Ebenezer Kofi Aidoo.
The moment was filled with emotion and gratitude, as the family expressed heartfelt appreciation for the unexpected lifeline.
Although Mr. Boakye’s primary duty as a Council of State member is to advise the President and top-level officials, he has consistently extended his influence beyond policy circles — reaching directly into the lives of ordinary citizens through acts of generosity.
