The recent revelation by a former General Secretary and flagbearer hopeful, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, that the “Thank You Tour” by party leadership was never approved by NEC or the National Council raises serious red flags. If indeed such a significant initiative did not pass through the proper channels, who sanctioned it?
Did Justin Frimpong Kodua and Stephen Ntim act unilaterally, sidelining the structures of the party?
If so, it confirms a troubling pattern: that leadership has become top-down, autocratic, and disconnected from the party’s internal governance ethos.
The National Executive Committee and the National Council are the highest decision-making bodies of the party. If their authority is being undermined, what hope is there for unity, transparency, or credibility within the party going forward?
The 2024 defeat was a wake-up call for the party.
But rather than respond with humility, accountability, and renewal, we are witnessing a deflection of blame and a circus of political PR.
Many believe the entire national executive body failed to deliver. I support the call by the First National Vice Chairman, Danquah Smith Butey, that the current national executives must be held accountable and replaced. All of them should go from Chairman Ntim to Justin Frimpong Kodua to Nana B!
The NPP needs fresh leadership leaders who respect procedure, inspire unity, and prioritize service over self-promotion .
As it stands, we must ask: Does the NPP truly have a functioning leadership? Or are the party is simply in the hands of individuals clinging to power for its own sake?
Ghana deserves better. And so does the party NPP!
