According to him, though the region is the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), it has contributed significantly to the massive victory of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the just ended presidential and parliamentary polls held on Wednesday 7 December, 2016.

“I want to thank the Chief’s and people of this region for your support and help during the election. I am particularly pleased that the votes of my party in this region has appreciated and we now have a parliamentary seat. This is certainly unprecedented,” said Akufo-Addo.

The President-elect, was speaking at a ceremony in Ho to honour Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State on his election as the President of the National House of Chiefs on Saturday.

Accompanied by his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and some party Stalwarts, Akufo-Addo said, his government will never forget the important lessons of 2016 election, which is; Ghanaians will punish impunity and corruption, as they expect improvements in their standard of living.

Togbe Afede on his part noted that, his election and that of Akufo-Addo to lead the chieftaincy institution and the country respectively at this particular moment, was a divine orchestration, for the two of them to work together to ensure development and prosperity for Ghanaians.

“Province has brought us together and we share an important privilege and obligation. We have no choice than to collaborate to bring prosperity to our people,” he said.

He called for the support of all towards the realisation of the change agenda.
