The Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly Known as Chairman Wontumi is expected to appear before the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) at the Manhyia Palace on January 29, 2024.
This follows summons extended to the National executives of the party to bring him to the Manhyia Palace to answer questions over alleged disparaging statements he made against the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during the party’s Parliamentary Primaries vetting of applicants.
Last week the General Secretary of the party Justin Kodua Frimpong with other national executives of the party appeared before the council without Chairman Wontumi over ill health. The party pleaded for two weeks for him to recover for ill health before he appears before the house.
However, the Manhyia Palace shot down their request and ordered him to appear before the house today 29th January 2024.
Maurice Ampaw a private Legal Practitioners based in Accra who also works as television talk show host on Wontumi TV and management of Wontumi Multimedia are also expected to appear before the house for verbally abusing the Kumasi Chiefs on his program.
Although the legal practitioner on Accra Based Kasapa FM disclosed he will not honor the Kumasi traditional council it is , however, unclear if he has changed his mind over his inconsistent communication on the matter since the palace summoned him to appear before them.
