AEI lauds IPAC for a strong beginning ahead of 2024 General Elections

An educational Civil Society Organization based in Ghana, the African Electoral Institute (AEI) has commended the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) for the decisions arrived at during its last meeting held on 7th March 2024.

In a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer for AEI, Augustus Kweku Eshun, he described the meeting as successful and forward-looking ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

“AEI lauds IPAC on this feat as a build-up on a strong beginning for the 2024 General Elections underscoring consensus building and peaceful credible elections.

“We urge IPAC to continue the dialogue and maintain the rapport in the just-ended meeting,” Mr. Eshun stated.

Below is the full statement

STATEMENT OF AFRICAN ELECTORAL INSTITUTE (AEI) ON THE INTER-PARTY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (IPAC) COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MEETING BETWEEN THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION AND LEADERS OF POLITICAL PARTIES.

African Electoral Institute (AEI) considered the last Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting released on 7th March 2024 as successful and forward-looking.

The AEI is pleased to note the new developments by the Electoral Commission (EC) as follows:

I.             The Electoral Calendar has finally been published for the 2024 Elections

II.            The coming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections will be on the 7th of December 2024

III.           The EC may not introduce a Constitutional Instruments-C I.

The existing – C I’s will remain.

IV.          The Limited Voters registration exercise will be for 21 days.

Specifically from Tuesday, 7th May 2024 to Monday, 27th May 2024.

V.            Filing fees for the 2024 presidential and Parliamentary Elections will remain the same.

VI.          And the maintaining of the use of the indelible ink.

AEI lauds IPAC on this feat as a build-up on a strong beginning for the 2024 General Elections underscoring consensus building and peaceful credible elections.

We urge IPAC to continue the dialogue and maintain the rapport in the just-ended meeting.
