The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to investigate the sale of state lands to private developers, promising to scrutinize all transactions and take necessary actions after 7th December 2025.
Joseph Yamin, National Organizer of the NDC, revealed this during an interview with Isaac Justice Bediako in Kumasi on Sunday 15th December 2024.
The NDC national organizer expressed concern over reports that some state lands have been hastily sold to private developers, raising questions about the legitimacy of the transactions. “We have credible intel that some state lands have been sold to private developers. This is alarming, and we will resist any attempts to improperly allocate state lands. These transactions will be reviewed when the new government takes over,” Yamin stated.
He warned private developers against embarking on major projects on such lands, saying their investments might be at risk. “Until the new government takes over, anyone developing such lands should be cautious. You might be venturing into a project that could turn unprofitable. We will examine all acquisitions to determine their validity,” he cautioned.
Yamin also hinted at a broader investigation into individuals and organizations that acquired state lands. “We will not only look into the legitimacy of those who acquired these lands but also assess whether the sales were fair and whether the buyers deserve to retain them. Those considering purchasing such lands should think twice,” he said.
The NDC National Organizer assured the public that their review would not be a witch-hunt but a fair exercise to protect state property. “This is not about targeting individuals or groups. Our focus is on ensuring that the sale of state lands is legitimate and in the national interest. If someone acquired it lawfully and followed due process, they have nothing to fear,” Yamin emphasized.
When asked about those who had already begun developing state lands before the elections, Yamin said, “We will review all such cases. Any land sold improperly, regardless of whether it was developed before or after the elections, will be investigated. We must ensure accountability.”
He reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to protecting state resources and ensuring transparency. “State lands are not for political appropriation or undue enrichment. We will uphold accountability and fairness in handling these issues,” Yamin said.
