The Council of State election in the Ashanti Region was thrown into chaos after a group of heavily built men stormed the polling station, disrupting the otherwise peaceful voting process.
According to GHOne TV reports, the men forcefully entered the venue, vandalizing Electoral Commission (EC) materials and physically assaulting journalists covering the election. The unexpected attack created panic among electoral officials, observers, and voters, forcing an abrupt halt to the voting process.
Security agencies in the region have yet to restore calm, and it remains unclear what prompted the disruption. No arrests have been confirmed so far, but authorities are said to be investigating the incident.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety of electoral officers and media personnel during elections, with many urging the government and security forces to take swift action against those responsible.
