President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to modernising critical infrastructure in the Oti Region, with a special focus on roads that are vital to national integration and economic growth.
Speaking during his tour of the region on Friday, July 25, the President described modern infrastructure as the “backbone of national development,” emphasising the strategic importance of the Oti Region as a major transit zone for goods and food from the northern parts of Ghana to the south.
“The Eastern Corridor Road, one of our country’s most strategic transportation links, is a top priority under my administration,” President Mahama stated.
He gave assurance that the completion of the Nkwanta–Kpassa–Oti Damanko stretch of the road will not be delayed. In addition to that, he announced that several other critical road projects in the region are at various stages of procurement and will soon commence.
The projects include:
- Construction of the Dambai Bridge
- Upgrading of the Okadjakrom–Kwamikrom Road
- Upgrading of the Abotoase–Atonkor Road
- Upgrading of the Kpasa–Tinjase Road
- Rehabilitation of the Hohoe–Jasikan Road
- Upgrading of the Nkwanta–Oti Damanko Road
- Rehabilitation of the Hohoe–Baika–Jasikan Road
President Mahama further disclosed that technical costing is ongoing for the next phase of road development projects in the region, with procurement processes to follow. These upcoming projects will include roads in Nkwanta-Dambai as well as areas in the Kete Krachi, Krachi Nchumuru, and Guan districts.

He assured residents that “all constituencies in the Oti Region have been included in our national road upgrade programme, which covers over 160 constituencies across the country.”
The road developments, he noted, are part of Ghana’s National Infrastructure Master Plan and are expected to unlock the economic potential of the Oti Region and enhance regional integration across the country.
