Seven persons have reportedly died in a fatal collision at Nkawada No. 2 on the Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra to Kumasi highway in the Eastern Region.
The accident, which occurred Tuesday afternoon, involved a Sprinter bus and a cargo truck.
The Sprinter bus was carrying passengers from Somanya en route to Sefwi when the collision happened.
According to EIB Network’s Nkawkaw-based Agoo FM, six passengers, including women, were confirmed dead on the spot, while another victim died while being rushed to the hospital.
Several others sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at nearby facilities.
The driver and mate of the cargo truck escaped unhurt but have been detained by police to assist with investigations.
Eyewitnesses claim the cargo truck driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel.
