The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has announced the commencement of a formal investigation into complaints about the quality and quantity of meals served under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) at Buaduyili Primary School in the Nanumba North Municipality.
The Miniatry in an official statement issued on June 9, 2026, acknowledged media reports highlighting concerns raised by parents and teachers regarding the meals provided to pupils.
The statement emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that all beneficiary children receive adequate, nutritious, and quality meals in a safe learning environment.
“The Ministry wishes to assure the public that Government remains firmly committed to ensuring that all beneficiary children under the Programme receive adequate, nutritious and quality meals,” the statement read.
The Ghana School Feeding Programme is a key social protection intervention aimed at reducing hunger among school children, boosting enrolment and attendance, and improving nutritional wellbeing across the country.
In response to the reported issues, the Ministry, in collaboration with the Ghana School Feeding Programme Secretariat, has initiated investigations to “ascertain the facts and determine the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.”
Authorities warned that “appropriate sanctions will be applied to any individual or entity found culpable” following the outcome of the probe.
The statement further noted that the government, through its Reset Agenda, is taking deliberate steps to strengthen the financing, monitoring, and implementation of the GSFP to enhance efficiency, accountability, and quality service delivery.
“Any action or omission that undermines the objectives, standards and integrity of the Programme will not be tolerated,” it added.
The Ministry has called on Regional and Zonal Coordinators, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, community leaders, the media, parents, and the general public to continue collaborating in monitoring the programme and promoting transparency.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the Ministry’s resolve to safeguard the integrity of the GSFP and ensure it serves the best interests of Ghanaian children.
