“No intimidation can stop me” – NPP’s Masawudu vows after clash with Azorka

NPP’s Osman Masawudu vows to stay in Akwatia and continue campaigning despite alleged threats from NDC’s Sofo Azorka during the by-election.

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Osman Masawudu has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Vice Chairman, Sofo Azorka, of threatening his life and that of the Minority Leader in Parliament during a heated confrontation in Akwatia on Monday.

Masawudu, who spoke to journalists after the incident, said Azorka’s alleged actions were not only an attack on him personally but also an attempt to create fear and panic among the NPP’s campaign team and sympathizers. According to him, the remarks made by the NDC executive were so grave that he had no choice but to immediately lodge a complaint at the Akwatia Police Station.

“I make a formal complaint to the Akwatia Police Station. The way he attacked me, I did nothing. He made a devastating comment, and he made it clear categorically that myself and the Minority Leader, he would make sure both of us have been murdered in Akwatia here,” Masawudu recounted.

He explained that the confrontation stemmed from his decision to prove critics wrong by physically staying in the constituency to support his party’s candidate, Solomon Asumadu. “Why did I come to Akwatia? Because they bragged out there that Elijah cannot even step foot in Akwatia, and I have been here for the past one week. That is what now, they don’t have any message to tell their people. Instead, they come here to put fear and panic in me,” he said.

The NPP member noted that the threats were deliberate attempts to undermine his confidence and disrupt his activities in the constituency, but he maintained that he would not yield to fear or intimidation.

“There is no man of fire, no man of panic, no man of intimidation that will put fear in me. I am not a man who can be easily frightened. I am here until the Electoral Commission will collect and declare Solomon Asumadu as the winner of the by-election. I will remain in Akwatia no matter the schemes of my opponents,” Masawudu declared.

He further accused the NDC of lacking a concrete message for the people of Akwatia and resorting instead to intimidation and threats to shift attention from the real issues at stake in the by-election.

“They have no message for their people. If they had, they wouldn’t be here threatening lives. They are only trying to create panic because they know they are losing,” he alleged.

Masawudu stressed that his presence in Akwatia was a direct response to opposition claims that he could not safely operate in the area. “They said Elijah cannot even step foot here. But for one week, I have been walking and working in Akwatia freely, proving them wrong. That is why they are frustrated, that is why they are attacking me,” he added.

Despite the development, Masawudu insists that he remains resolute and will continue his political activities in Akwatia without fear.

“I will not run, I will not hide, and I will not be silenced. No intimidation can stop me from standing with my people and defending the mandate of Solomon Asumadu,” he emphasized.
