The 2025 GBSA Goalball National Championships made history as the first edition to feature teams from all 16 regions of Ghana, with Oti Region as the only exception.
The tournament, held from December 4 to 7 at the University of Cape Coast Indoor Sports Complex, showcased the talent and competitiveness of Ghana’s top Goalball athletes.
In the men’s division, Eastern Region emerged as champions after defeating Upper East Region in a thrilling final. John Arthur from Eastern Region was named best male player for his outstanding performance.

In the women’s division, Volta Region claimed the title by beating Ashanti Region in the final match. Peace Awadzi of Volta Region received the best female player award.
The championships were supported by Goldbod Ghana, the Bank of Ghana, the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, and other sponsors. Goalball balls were distributed to regions that lacked equipment, promoting the sport’s development nationwide.

The successful tournament underscores Ghana’s growing commitment to Goalball and the empowerment of athletes with visual impairments across the country.
