Minister for Communication and Ningo-Prampram MP, Samuel Nartey George, has confirmed the arrest of 48 suspected cybercrime operatives during a nighttime intelligence-led operation in Dawhenya, Ningo-Prampram.
The operation was conducted by the Cyber Security Authority Ghana, in collaboration with the National Security and Ghana Police Service.
In a statement on X on Wednesday, December 24, Sam George revealed that preliminary investigations indicate that most of the suspects are Nigerian nationals, comprising 46 males and two females.

According to him, the suspects are believed to be involved in various cybercrimes, including romance scams, online investment fraud, impersonation schemes, and illicit online gold trading.
Authorities also seized 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, one Starlink internet device, and eight MTN TurboNet routers, which were reportedly used in the commission of cyber offenses.

Sanm George stated, “We are committed to carrying out intelligence-led surgical strikes against these crime syndicates to ensure that we rid our cyber ecosystem of these criminals. Ghana welcomes everyone interested in legitimate enterprise. We will remain a hostile domain for cyber criminals.”

He commended the operatives for their professionalism and effectiveness, noting that such operations are crucial for maintaining Ghana’s cyber security.
