The Northern Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) has arrested the final suspect in connection with the Wapuli kidnapping, marking a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle the criminal network.
In a statement dated Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the Police confirmed the apprehension of Hoyeeefe Amadu, believed to be the fourth and last member of the syndicate involved in the December 6, 2025 abduction of a 42-year-old man in Wapuli.
The victim reportedly sustained life-threatening cutlass injuries, and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of GH¢100,000, of which GH¢90,000 was paid. Police later recovered GH¢70,000 of the ransom.
Three other suspects had been arrested earlier, with the Northern Regional PID intensifying intelligence and surveillance operations to locate the remaining accomplice.

The operation culminated in the early hours of Tuesday, January 20, 2026, when Amadu was apprehended at a hideout in a village about 10 kilometres from Watugu, a suburb of Gushegu.
The three previously arrested suspects remain in custody and are expected to reappear in court as investigations continue.
