Prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) figure, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, has reaffirmed his deep-rooted loyalty to the party, describing it as an inherited political tradition he cannot abandon.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Serwaa Amihere on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Otchere-Darko said his affiliation with the NPP is grounded in family history, even though he is no longer actively involved in partisan politics.
“I think the NPP is in my blood. My grandfather was JB Dankwa. I was born into the tradition. So, I have nowhere to go,” he stated.
He dismissed suggestions that he is a politician, clarifying that his role has always been that of a political strategist rather than an active party operative.
“I may not be active, which I’m not, but of course I’m NPP. And I love being where I am,” he added.

Otchere-Darko’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about his influence within the party and the broader political space, with his remarks underscoring a continued emotional and ideological attachment to the NPP tradition despite stepping back from frontline political engagement.
Meanwhile, some Ghanaians have referred to Gabby Otchere-Darko as the “Prime Minister” of Ghana during the Akufo-Addo–Bawumia administration, reflecting his influential role as a key strategist behind government policies and party decisions.
