Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has called on Ghanaians to embrace forgiveness, unity, and collaboration as critical tools for national development and economic transformation.
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the Accra Friendship Forever Club Dinner on Saturday, March 8, 2026, Debrah praised club members for their significant contributions to national progress, particularly through their engagement in the private sector.
“The development of every nation is largely anchored on the strength of its private sector,” Debrah said. “We must work together, pool our knowledge, and support each other if we are to transform Ghana into the industrial powerhouse we envision.”
Highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment, he reassured private sector leaders that policies will continue to support investment, innovation, and growth.
Beyond economic development, Debrah stressed the importance of personal relationships and national unity, urging Ghanaians to prevent political differences from undermining social bonds. He shared a personal story from his days at Achimota School to illustrate the lasting impact of relationships built on goodwill.
“When I was a sixth former in Achimota School, Kofi Kufuor was my school son. He used to keep his food in my cubicle. At that time, we did not know President Kufuor would become Head of State one day, and I did not know I would become a politician someday,” he recalled.
Debrah added that his longstanding relationship with former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who often offered guidance and support, demonstrates that personal connections can transcend politics and shape the future.
“Relationship is key. Sometimes we allow our political leanings to spoil our relationships. But if we want our country to develop, we must encourage love and brotherliness,” he said.
Reflecting on his own journey, he told the President, “Mr President, the young boy you used to give money gifts in Achimota School is the one who has grown to become a Chief of Staff.”
Concluding his remarks, Debrah called on all Ghanaians to work together for the country’s prosperity.
“Let us forgive, let us unite, and let us work together for the Ghana we all desire,” he urged, reminding citizens that collective effort, unity, and strong relationships are just as essential as policy and investment in driving national progress.
