A 60-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his 16-year-old biological son.
The suspect, identified as Eric Mante, was apprehended following the incident, which reportedly occurred after the teenager went out to play football with friends.
According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect allegedly tied the victim to a quad motorbike and drove off at speed.
During the incident, the boy reportedly fell onto a tarred road near the Adonai Church, sustaining multiple injuries.
Residents in the area are said to have intervened after hearing the victim screaming for help and managed to rescue him.
The victim was rushed to the Legon Hospital for medical treatment, while the suspect was subsequently arrested by the police.
During investigations, Eric Mante reportedly admitted to the act, claiming he acted “out of anger” over his son’s behaviour.
The police, in a statement, have condemned all forms of violence against children and urged parents and guardians to adopt lawful and non-violent means of disciplining children.
The public has also been encouraged to promptly report cases of abuse to the police or the appropriate authorities.
