The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set Saturday, October 3, 2026, for its National Executive Elections.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the party’s National Elections Committee, Frederick Opare-Ansah, and dated Tuesday, August 11, 2026, the party said nominations will open on August 17 and close on August 22, while the filing of nomination forms will take place from August 23 to August 27.
Vetting of aspirants will follow from August 31 to September 3, with the results to be published on September 5. Appeals will be heard from September 6 to September 7, while the National Executive Committee/National Council will meet on September 10.
The Notice of Poll will be issued on September 14 ahead of the October 3 elections.
The NPP said the elections would be conducted pursuant to Article 10(2) of the party’s Constitution and other relevant provisions.
“The National Elections Committee hereby announces an update of the National Executives Elections as follows,” the statement said.
The party also outlined eligibility requirements for aspirants, including at least two years of active registered membership, good character, good standing and payment of membership dues for at least the past two years.
Aspirants must also pay the prescribed fees and be cleared by the National Vetting Committee. For the National Youth Organiser position, the aspiring candidate “should not attain the age of forty (40) years.”
The elections will cover nine positions, including National Chairperson, National Vice Chairpersons, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organiser, National Women Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Nasara Organiser and National Communication Director.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana will conduct the elections under the supervision of the NPP’s National Elections Committee, in line with the Political Parties Act, 2000 (Act 574).
