The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has urged young people to exercise caution when engaging in private activities, amid growing concerns over the circulation of leaked private and sexually explicit videos on social media.
Mr. Basintale said the trend could have serious implications for the mental and emotional well-being of young people, while exposing individuals whose private moments are leaked to public shame, cyberbullying and other forms of harm.
Speaking during the National Youth Forum organised by the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, the YEA CEO advised young people to refrain from recording private sexual activities on phones or other electronic devices.

He stressed that taking preventive measures from the outset remains one of the most effective ways of reducing the risk of private moments being shared publicly on social media platforms.
Mr. Basintale also used the forum to reaffirm the YEA’s commitment to the agreements reached with various security agencies under the Ministry of the Interior.
He reminded beneficiaries that, under the respective Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between the YEA and the security agencies, 60 percent of eligible YEA beneficiaries are expected to be recruited into the mainstream security services.

The YEA CEO assured beneficiaries of his commitment to ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries are given the opportunity to transition into the mainstream security services, in line with the provisions of the respective agreements.
The National Youth Forum forms part of efforts to engage young people on issues affecting their welfare and development.
