More than 300 additional students in the Jomoro Constituency have received mattresses, trunks, chop boxes, exercise books and sanitary pads as part of a supplementary distribution exercise spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for the area, Dorcas Affo-Toffey.
The latest presentation was organised as a mop-up exercise for students who were unable to benefit from an earlier distribution, which supported more than 1,000 students in the constituency.
The supplementary exercise forms part of the 2026 edition of the scholarship initiative, which is the sixth since its inception under the leadership of the Jomoro MP.
The intervention is aimed at supporting students, particularly those facing difficulties in accessing basic educational necessities.
Speaking during the latest presentation, Ms Affo-Toffey explained that the additional distribution was intended to ensure that students who were left out of the earlier exercise were also supported.
She said as a Member of Parliament and a mother, she did not want any student to be left out of the support programme.
The beneficiaries received mattresses, trunks, chop boxes, exercise books and sanitary pads to help ease some of the financial burden associated with their education.
With the supplementary distribution, the number of students supported under the initiative has risen to more than 1,300.
The latest intervention is expected to provide additional relief to the beneficiaries and enable them to concentrate on their studies without some of the challenges associated with a lack of basic educational materials.
