Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Danquah, says party unity has emerged as a major factor that could influence delegates’ choices in the upcoming election.
Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Mr Danquah said the survey sought to understand the issues and considerations that would shape delegates’ decisions as they prepare to vote.
He explained that respondents were presented with four factors which, based on the research team’s understanding of the issues, could influence their choices.
These included party unity, personalities, grassroots considerations and another category of considerations identified in the survey.
According to the findings, 45 percent of respondents identified party unity as a key factor, while 18 percent cited personalities and 19 percent pointed to grassroots considerations. Another 18 percent fell under the remaining category.
Mr Danquah said the researchers then sought to establish which candidates delegates associated with the different factors.
He explained that the exercise was intended to determine which candidates were perceived by delegates as having qualities linked to issues such as party unity, personality and grassroots support.
Mr Danquah said the responses showed a significant association between the issue and some of the candidates in the race.
He noted that the findings were based on responses from delegates who were asked to identify the candidates they associated with the various factors presented to them.
Mr Danquah said the results therefore provide an indication of the considerations that could shape delegates’ decisions, particularly the importance attached to party unity.
He added that the survey also examined how delegates associated individual candidates with other considerations, including personality and grassroots appeal.
“The findings form part of the broader assessment of the race and the factors that could influence the eventual choices of delegates”. He said.
