New Patriotic Party (NPP) national youth organiser hopeful Vera Oye Larbi says she remains confident that delegates will exercise their independent judgment in the party’s upcoming youth organiser election.
Her confidence comes despite concerns she has raised about what she describes as attempts by influential individuals to support particular candidates and influence the outcome of the contest.
Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Vera Oye said she believed delegates would ultimately choose a candidate based on competence and the ability to deliver.
“I still believe that the delegates are going to do the right thing. They will vote who is most competent and who is most to deliver, not who they impose on them,” she said.
Vera Oye had earlier expressed concern that the contest had been influenced by individuals backing specific aspirants, arguing that such involvement was unfair to other candidates.
She alleged that some delegates were being directed to vote for particular candidates.
“How can you be delegating telling them that everybody should vote this way? It is highly unfair,” she said.
Despite these concerns, she said she was leaving the final decision in the hands of the delegates after completing her campaign activities and presenting her policies to delegates across the country.
“I’ve done all I needed to do so I leave the rest in the hands of the Lord,” she added.
Vera Oye also said that, if elected, her immediate priority would be to unite members of the NPP youth wing and begin implementing the policies she outlined during her campaign.
“If I win by the grace of God, I’m going to start implementing the policies like I said,” she said.
