A group of Ghanaian students has returned from a transformative seven-day educational and cultural immersion programme in Dubai, organised under the leadership of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Secretary for International Relations, Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah.
The 2026 initiative blended structured learning with firsthand exposure to one of the world’s most dynamic cities. Participants explored Dubai’s advanced infrastructure, technological innovation, economic hubs, tourism sector and cultural heritage, moving well beyond classroom theory into practical observation and interaction.
Students described the experience as eye-opening.
They visited key landmarks and development sites, engaged with the city’s modern urban planning and business environment, and gained a clearer understanding of how rapid innovation and global connectivity drive progress.
Networking sessions and informal interactions allowed participants to exchange ideas, build relationships and discuss how lessons from Dubai could be adapted to Ghana’s development context.
Beyond the educational focus, the programme included recreational activities that gave students time to unwind, experience local culture and strengthen friendships in a supportive group setting.
Organisers emphasised that the trip was deliberately designed to combine inspiration with enjoyment, reinforcing the value of international exposure for young leaders.
Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah’s leadership of the initiative has been highlighted as a practical demonstration of student governance delivering tangible opportunities.
The successful organisation of the Dubai programme is expected to encourage similar efforts that equip more Ghanaian students with global perspectives and ideas they can bring home to contribute to national progress.
The trip stands as a model of how international relations within student leadership can translate into meaningful experiences that broaden horizons and foster a generation better prepared for an interconnected world.
