Medeama SC suffered their first defeat of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season after losing 2-1 to FC Samartex 1996, while Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko recorded important victories on Matchday Seven.

Medeama’s unbeaten run came to an end at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday, October 18, as Samartex claimed all three points in a closely contested encounter. The result handed Medeama their first league defeat of the campaign and provided Samartex with a significant boost in their push for a strong start to the season.

Hearts of Oak also secured a crucial away victory, edging Vision FC 1-0 at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema New Town on Saturday. The Phobians continued their positive run of form with another important result on the road.

Asante Kotoko, meanwhile, returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Young Apostles at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday. The Porcupine Warriors took all three points in front of their home supporters as they continued their campaign for the league title.

Elsewhere, Swedru All Blacks defeated Karela United 2-0 at the Swedru Stadium, while Basake Holy Stars secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bechem United at the AAK II Sports Arena.

Debibi United also recorded a 1-0 win against Gold Stars SC at the Debibi Presby Park, while Aduana FC beat FC Ashantigold by the same scoreline at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.

At the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, Hearts of Lions suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Berekum Chelsea on Saturday, with the visitors leaving the Kpando Stadium with maximum points.

Port City FC and Dreams FC shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Nana Boamah Darko II Stadium in Kukurantumi, while the weekend’s fixtures also saw Samartex and Medeama produce one of the round’s most significant results.

The Matchday Seven results leave the title race increasingly competitive, with Hearts of Oak and Kotoko among the teams looking to build momentum as the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season progresses.
