The Supreme Court is expected to convene for its normal court business on Tuesday, November 3 a directive from the Chief Justice has said despite the ongoing strike.
November 3, 2026, despite the ongoing indefinite strike by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana, JUSAG.
This follows a directive from His Lordship the Chief Justice, contained in a notice issued by the Judicial Service and signed by the Judicial Secretary, Ahmed Musah.
“Pursuant to the direction of His Lordship, the Chief Justice, it is hereby notified for the information of all Lawyers and parties to proceedings that the Supreme Court shall convene for its normal court business tomorrow, Tuesday, 3rd November 2026,” the notice stated.
All counsel and parties with matters listed before the Court have been advised to take note and govern themselves accordingly.
The directive comes a day after JUSAG declared an indefinite strike to press for full implementation of its conditions of service under C.I. 141, a move that led to the closure of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, the High Court at the Law Court Complex, and the Circuit Courts on Monday.
It is, however, unclear whether the Supreme Court will have the full complement of judicial service staff needed for its sitting, as JUSAG has insisted the strike will remain in force until there is full compliance with the law.
The Ministry of Finance has since approved the payment of 10 months’ arrears owed to Judicial Service staff and Members of the Lower Court Bench, in two tranches in November and December 2026.
JUSAG is yet to respond to that approval and to the Chief Justice’s directive.
