Ghana national U20 team, Black Satellites coach Desmond Offei believes his team faced a formidable opponent in the African Games men’s football tournament semifinals.
The Black Satellites secured a 1-0 victory over Senegal at Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday night, securing a spot in the final of the African Games.
Coach Offei acknowledges Senegal U20 nicknamed, Young Teranga Lions as a challenging opponent, but his team had to fight hard for the final.
“I suspected, it was a very tough game, a team that has worked really hard to compete at the highest level so we had a lot of respect for them”, he said.
“We had to fight for it, it took us one month from the beginning to the end of the game, we were never in trouble, they chose the long ball, which we were a bit surprised about because we thought they were going to play because a good football team but that wasn’t a haste”, he added.
“We dealt with the ball, in the first half we didn’t create many chances in my opinion, we had clear cut chances but we think deep and we made sure we didn’t get worried”.
The Black Satellites are set to face Uganda, who also defeated Congo in the final game of the semifinals, on Friday, March 22.
