The presiding judge in the ongoing Ato Forson ambulance case, Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, has cautioned Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, for his media comments on the trial.
While issuing a warning to the NDC’s Communications Officer, the judge sternly stated, “This is the last time I am cautioning you.”
With her judge’s wig perched atop her head and her spectacles nearly slipping to the tip of her nose, Justice Asare-Botwe’s voice carried a tone of unmistakable authority. “Be more responsible in your statements,” she commanded, her voice cutting through the silence. “This is the last time I am cautioning you. The next time, you won’t like it.”
Sammy Gyamfi, last Thursday, May 23, 2024, expressed the opinion that if the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, can speak to an accused person without his counsel, then he is capable of speaking to a judge.
The judge deemed these comments to be in bad taste and therefore warned the NDC Communications Officer to be mindful of his public comments.
During cross-examination, businessman Richard Jakpa accused the Attorney General of calling him at odd hours to obtain testimony against the Minority Leader.
This has sparked conversations among Ghanaians, with some individuals calling for the resignation of the Attorney General.
